Bromus Dam
Stayed at the camping area at Bromus dam for one night, met Mathew “the mathematical genius” (so he told us) who puttered into our camp on his motorized pushbike, he was camped somewhere in the bush with his wife and tribe of kids ranging in age from 5 to 15 years old, never did find their camp. Think he was in his early thirties but if you added up all he said he had done he should have been 50! After talking to him for a while we discounted a big part of what he said including his gold vein & diamond discoveries and the three house they own but never live in etc. Met4 of his kids(just a little feral) when they were trying to catch yabbies in the dam. Had lots of trouble with ants every time we tried to sit outside the van and it also rained during the night, I think we are taking the clouds & rain with us every time we move!
If you are taking clouds and rain with you everywhere you go, could you please swing past here on your travels. We would love just one cloudy rainy day, just one!!! Looks like you guys are having a great time.
I agree with Danielle, all these bloody cyclones and storms dumping record amounts of rain on everywhere except here in Perth, where we desperately need it! Hot and humid the past two days in Perth, I'd take the rain and stormy conditions you two have over that any day. Enjoy your trip, good to see you incrementing your way across the Bight!
Glad to hear you enjoyed the stop at Bromus Dam. My first stop for a night there was back in September 2001. It too had rained during the night and I could hear the crackle of the lightning on the car radio. I met a retired couple wanting to catch yabbies, but they put the net in the following morning instead of the previous night. My second visit there was in September 2009 just for a stretch. Hope you both enjoy your trip.
Bryon and I live in Albany, Western Australia and have been married for 7 very happy years. We have four children between us and at the moment eight grandchildren plus one on the wayas well.We both love camping, travelling, good wine and fine dining and great books! The kids call our place "Restauraunt Porteous" mainly due to Bryon's great cooking!Unfortunatly since I got sick last year I haven't done much on the blog I will try to do more in the coming months as we head north agin for winter.
